This program teaches students one of the most fundamental concepts in nature – ecosystems exist in a delicate state of balance. The beautifully filmed nature footage shows how plants and animals interact with each other and their environment. It shows how each element in an ecosystem is interrelated and that if any one part of a system is destroyed, all other parts are affected. It examines ecosystems ranging in size from an aquarium to a pond, and points out that the same concepts that apply to smaller ecosystems apply to the largest. Also shown is how the sun’s energy is passed from plants to animals and finally down to fungi and bacteria. Teacher management features include an interactive quiz, test with record keeping, interactive glossary, and video with interactive browsing. Works with Win98/XP/Mac Classic.
